Notes

This screenprinted poster issued on behalf of the PCF (Parti Communiste Francais) is stamped 'Atelier Populaire', identifying it as one of the products of students of the Ecole des Beaux Arts, who turned out an estimated 120,000 posters between May and June 1968. The figure, labelled with the letters 'PCF' balances upon a ball marked 'Parliamentary Democracy', while juggling balls which spell out 'ELECTIONS', to illustrate how, in the makers' view, Parliamentarianism, or a parliamentary principle or system of government, cannot work.
